The exhibition presents student design projects from Technische Universität Darmstadt and Hochschule Darmstadt, exploring the shared use and future development of church spaces – as defining landmarks in the urban fabric, as spaces for communal activity, and as architectural heritage that can be re-embedded in everyday life rather than preserved as museum pieces.

As part of the vernissage, the BDA Darmstadt Student Award 2025 will be presented. This will be followed by keynote contributions from art historian Karin Berkemann and architect Arno Klinkenberg, with a discussion moderated by Christian Holl.

The event is part of “Öffentlich” (Public), BDA Hessen's contribution to the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, and takes place in cooperation with the Evangelische Johannesgemeinde Darmstadt, Technische Universität Darmstadt and Hochschule Darmstadt.
