Starting 10 August 2026, international students at TU Darmstadt can apply for the DAAD Scholarship for Greater Equity of Opportunity. The scholarship supports students who, in addition to financial difficulties, face specific challenges during their studies. The application deadline is 10 September 2026.

Text: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is once again awarding scholarships to international bachelor's and master's students at TU Darmstadt as part of its “Equity of Opportunity” programme. A total of five scholarships are available, each providing 500 euros per month over a funding period from October 2026 to March 2027 – 3,000 euros in total per recipient.

The scholarship specifically targets international students who face financial difficulties connected to one or more of the following circumstances:

• Refugee background

• Disability and/or chronic illness

• Gender identity

• Caring for children or relatives in need of care

Financial hardship alone is not sufficient grounds for funding. Applicants must clearly explain in their application how their financial situation is linked to one or more of these life circumstances. The category “first-generation academics” is no longer eligible for funding under this programme.
