Blockseminar (3 CP)
Sommersemester 2026

The 15-minute City – International Summer Workshop

In this compact seminar, we will explore the concept of the 15-minute city as a structural and functional element in steering the transformation of contemporary cities across the globe. The main working period consists of a five-day workshop at TU Darmstadt, in which participants will collaborate with visiting students from Santiago de Chile and Washington DC. This workshop will take place from 19–23 May in Darmstadt. The International workshop's primary objective is to stimulate critical debate and encourage students and teachers from three countries spanning different continents to sharpen their individual perspectives within various theoretical and practical contexts. To this end, participants will analyze case studies of transit-oriented development in the Rhein Main area, visiting and mapping sites and developing ideas to improve the situation towards a 15-minute city. Prior to the workshop, students are required to read the literature and prepare materials, as well as attend two sessions before and one session after the core workshop week.
