Feminist development policy for sustainable development

Guest lecture at KfW Sector retreat, Frankfurt, Germany

2022/11/09

The German development bank KfW invited Dr.-Ing. Anshika Suri to give a guest lecture on the topic of ‘Gender perspective for sustainable cities’ on 23rd September 2022.

German Federal Minister Svenja Schulze announced in the beginning of 2022 that the BMZ will be pursuing a feminist development policy. The aim of the BMZ’s feminist development policy is to eliminate structural inequalities, unequal treatment and discrimination in the long term. This also includes racist structures and power relations.

Following in these steps, the German development bank KfW invited Dr.-Ing. Anshika Suri to give a guest lecture on the topic of ‘Gender perspective for sustainable cities’ on 23rd September 2022. KfW is one of the world’s leading promotional banks. KfW has been committed to improving economic, social and environmental living conditions across the globe on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal states since 1948.

The lecture focused on highlighting gender inequality within urban areas, inclusion of gendered concepts within development discourses, intersectional analysis for race and power relations, good practices worldwide, identification of resources and development of project plans with mutli-sectoral stakeholders.
