Dr. Elena Markus (née Kossovskaja) studied architecture at the University of the Arts in Berlin. From 2011 to 2014 Elena Markus was curator at the Swiss Museum of Architecture S AM in Basel, since 2014 she teaches architectural theory at the TUM in Munich. Between 2016 and 2018, Elena organized seminars and workshops on the Theorie der Siedlung and curated exhibitions at the 5th Architecture Biennale in Moscow as well as at the Kunsthalle Lothringer13 in Munich. As a guest lecturer, she taught at the David Azrieli School of Architecture, Tel Aviv University in in 2017. In her dissertation entitled (Dirty) Realism. Analogue Architecture 1983-1987, she examined the social and political significance of an alternative architectural production with regard to the architectural discourse of the 1980s.
