Julia von Mendeis an architectural theorist interested in the cross-disciplinary study of spatial structures and contexts of everyday practices. As a fellow in the Thuringian Postdoctoral Program at Bauhaus University Weimar, she is working on the history of empirical research on housing. She received her doctorate from the Faculty of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University with a thesis on the spatialization of eating practices, which was awarded the "Wohnen & Stadt" study prize. The starting point for this was her scientific collaboration in the interdisciplinary project "The Anthropocene Kitchen" at the Exzellenzcluster Bild Wissen Gestaltung. Ein interdisziplinäres Labor at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Prior to her employment in the academic environment, she was active in publishing, among other things as an editor of the architecture journals Arch+ and Daidalos.
