Blockseminar (3 CP)
Sommersemester 2025

Urbanistas – The walkable city

In this course, students will explore and discuss the concept of the walkable city through the lenses of accessibility, sustainability, gender, safety and other issues of interest to the participants. Students will identify and analyse examples at different scales: city-wide, neighbourhood/street level and element level. What can be learned from the case studies: do they successfully support and promote the specific objective, which components can be adapted or are best suited for future design projects, what needs to be adapted?

Students will learn how to locate and systematically review design project information, practice visualising and categorising textual and graphical information. Each case study should conclude with an assessment of transferability and a recommendation or vision for further use of the identified design principles.

IMPORTANT NOTE
