AO Ring Lecture “Designed Orders” in winter semester 2022/23

03.11.22 – 02.02.23

2022/10/13

The architectural design process aims to create new orders and is itself simultaneously structured by its practical, technical, social and legal framework conditions. The lecture series of the LOEWE focus “Architectures of Order” in the summer and winter semesters of 2022/2023 traces this double relationship. Every design imagines the future and represents an attempt to bring about a new spatial – and thus always also social – order. This projective approach to the as yet unknown and unimagined relates, rethinks and dynamises planning conventions, building standards, legal requirements and established architectural, urbanistic and social ideas. The lecture series asks in what way design structures the interaction of these different and heterogeneous factors and what role the conditions, norms and tools of design play.
