Martin Roth übernimmt die Professur Entwerfen, Landschaftsarchitektur und Stadtökologie

Seit dem 01. September 2025 verstärkt Prof. Dipl.-Ing. M.Arch. Martin Roth den Fachbereich Architektur mit einer Professur für Entwerfen, Landschaftsarchitektur und Stadtökologie. Er folgt auf Prof. Dr. Jörg Dettmar, der zuvor das Fachgebiet Entwerfen und Freiraumgestaltung leitete. Mit internationaler Erfahrung in Praxis, Forschung und Lehre verfolgt Martin Roth einen klaren Schwerpunkt: die nachhaltige Transformation städtischer Räume im Spannungsfeld von Architektur, Städtebau, Landschaftsarchitektur und Stadtökologie.

Mit ihrem Projekt „Hydrosyn – Where the Water Rises“ wurde ein Studierendenteam des Fachbereichs Architektur der TU Darmstadt beim internationalen Wettbewerb Designing Resilience Global 2025 ausgezeichnet. Die Jury würdigte den Entwurf mit einer Lobenden Erwähnung.

New Aubuckel Residential Quarter Opens in Mannheim

The Aubuckel residential quarter in Mannheim-Feudenheim, which opened on August 5, could become a blueprint for all of Germany: showing how cities and municipalities need to be redesigned to cope with the impacts of the climate crisis—and to conserve valuable water through reuse. Drought, heat, groundwater stress, as well as heavy rainfall and flooding as consequences of rising temperatures, are forcing a radical rethinking in urban planning. The goal must be to use more greywater instead of fresh water. The Aubuckel project, “ReSource Mannheim,” was designed by the Department of Design and Urban Development at the Faculty of Architecture and funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU).

Christian Rudolph will take over as head on August 1, 2025.
