Change in the model-making workshop

Christian Rudolph will take over as head on August 1, 2025.

2025/08/05

He will succeed Pit Maier, who led the workshop from 1993 to 2025.

Christian Rudolph earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in 2017 and, in 2021, successfully completed an additional craft training as a construction and furniture carpenter. Since then, he has been working freelance in these fields – in both planning and execution, as well as in model making. In his work, he combines creative thinking with practical expertise and takes on a wide variety of project-based tasks.

For him, joy and motivation are at the heart of every project, because, as he emphasizes: “They arise through personal responsibility.” He is convinced that “knowledge and the ability to respond flexibly to dynamic situations strengthen self-confidence and shape one’s personality.” These aspects hold particular importance for him as he begins his role at the Department of Architecture.

A key concern of his is also the further development of the workshop – not only in technical terms but also conceptually. He aims to maintain and further expand its service-oriented character so that students will, in the future, have greater opportunities for independent action and access to enhanced spatial resources. In this context, he is keen to stress: “You are always warmly welcome to come to us with your concerns, questions, and suggestions about our work – and yours!”
