This often fails because heating systems in unrenovated buildings usually require high flow temperatures. In order to investigate how high the achievable temperature reduction potential is, in 2020 a demonstrator with two different ceiling heating systems was integrated into the listed building of the Faculty of Architecture at the TU Darmstadt and accompanied by measurements. The results are encouraging, as they show that even with an unrefurbished building envelope, a significant temperature reduction to below 45 °C is possible without exceeding the normative limits of thermal comfort.
