International Courses

The department offers various courses taught by or with international guests. Students can take these as part of their regular studies.

ATW: Reconstruction Reconsidered (2021-2022)

As part of the DAAD Visiting Lecturer Programme, Dr. Igor Demchenko will be a guest at the Department of Architectural Theory and Science from April 2021 to March 2022. In thematic seminars and workshops with students, he will historically underpin and critically discuss questions on the applied methodology of reconstruction and restoration between the 1920s and 1980s. EBK: Touching Celluloise (2021)

»Touching Cellulose« is a workshop on the future of wood architecture in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology, the Royal Danish Academy and the Technical University of Darmstadt, organised by Gilbert Koskamp and Pierre Jennen. The online lectures of the inaugural event in April 2021 are publicly available. For enrolled students, the international workshop will take place from 13 to 22 September 2021, as well as a public lecture series. UHG: Public Life Studies / Comparative Urbanism (2021)

This project is a collaboration between the Department of Architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt and the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech. Students from both faculties are joining in the transatlantic course »Public Life Studies / Comparative Urbanism« in which they will design and develop research projects with the aim to identify similarities and differences of urban design and the usage of public spaces in the US and Germany.
