Interdisiplinary Research and Writing in Architecture

On Friday, August 27th, 2021, Dr. Anshika Suri provided a webinar on academic research in architecture with the example of gender studies for the students of Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Architecture in Pune, India. Dr. Suri discussed gender studies as part of research in architecture through the presentation of her PhD work.

This webinar was designed as training session for faculty members and students of 3rd and 4th year who have Research in Architecture as a subject at Martha Mitra Mandal's College of Architecture. The first session focused on establishing framework for scientific academic writing and research, dwelling on topics such as– how to select relevant topics, conducting literature review, state of the art and methodology. The second session then through the example of interdisciplinary research on gender & sanitation, highlighted how research projects can combine case study and theoretical concepts in architecture and urban development planning.

The training was organised by Dr. Manas Marathe from Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Architecture in Pune, India. Dr. Marathe finished his PhD at Faculty of Architecture at TU Darmstadt in 2019.
