| Project Title | The Mobility Design Project |
| Acronym | project-mo.de |
| Project Description |
Our mobility is undergoing fundamental change. In the future, we will have access to many new opportunities to move efficiently, comfortably, and sustainably. With the advent of digital technologies, intelligent mobility solutions are emerging that enable us to travel without relying on private vehicles, using a variety of transport modes seamlessly. However, to make this transformation successful, people must feel not only safe but also comfortable within these diverse mobility environments — a major challenge for the design of products, spaces, processes, and systems. Design plays a key role here: by viewing complex mobility systems holistically and placing users at the center, it fosters greater acceptance of intermodal and multimodal transport solutions. This is where project-mo.de, as a LOEWE research focus “Infrastructure – Design – Society,” comes in. The project systematically investigates the design requirements of new, connected, and multimodal mobility systems in the Rhine-Main metropolitan region. Under the leadership of the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Offenbach, a team of around twenty researchers from HfG Offenbach, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Goethe University Frankfurt, and TU Darmstadt collaborates to address these shared questions. The project is funded through the Hessian State Initiative for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence (LOEWE) by the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and the Arts, with a total budget of €3.6 million for the period 2018–2021. |
