What significance does sustainable urban mobility have for residents of Darmstadt and the surrounding area? Is it compatible with their specific needs and the local conditions?

On 15 January 2020, ten participants of the »SUMP Focus Group« (Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning) were interviewed about these questions and some other aspects of future mobility at the Urban Health Games Department.

The aim was to contextualize everyday situations and reflect on their decisions regarding mobility. Despite the deliberately homogeneous composition of the group, the answers were diverse. More general factors such as time and financial resources often play a major role in the choice of transport, sustainability less so. Measures that would make environmentally friendly behaviour easier were then openly discussed. The group sees great potential in public transport.
